Dental Bonding · Washington, DC
Corrected in a single visit
Tooth-colored composite resin, bonded to the tooth and shaped by hand until it disappears into your natural smile. Conservative, reversible, and finished before you leave the office.
What Is Dental Bonding?
Tooth-colored. Hand-shaped. Invisible.
Dental bonding uses a tooth-colored material called composite resin, bonded directly to the surface of the tooth. Dr. Roshan shapes and polishes the resin by hand to create a natural-looking restoration that blends with the teeth around it.
Because no outside laboratory is involved, treatment is often completed in just one visit. That makes bonding a convenient and cost-effective way to repair minor cosmetic flaws, including chips, cracks, stains, gaps, and misshapen teeth.
What bonding can correct
Bonding is designed for the minor imperfections that catch your eye every time you look in the mirror.
- Chipped or fractured tooth edges
- Gaps and spacing between the front teeth
- Misshapen teeth that look short, narrow, or uneven
- Surface cracks and isolated discoloration
- Minor imperfections across an otherwise healthy smile

The bonding process, step by step
Consultation and photography
We photograph your smile, talk through what is bothering you, and confirm that bonding is the right approach for your teeth and your goals.
Applying the bonding
Composite resin is placed on the tooth and sculpted to shape, then cured with a light to harden the material in position.
Polishing
The surface is refined and polished so it matches the surrounding teeth in both texture and shine. You leave the office with your new smile the same day.
Honest expectations
Bonding is an excellent option in the right situation. Here is what Dr. Roshan will tell you before you decide.
- Bonding is a less costly option, but it may not last as long as other restorative treatments, creating a need for replacement in the future.
- Composite stains more quickly than natural teeth, discolors more readily, and loses some of its shine over time.
- For a lasting change across several teeth, porcelain veneers are in most cases the superior option.
Caring for your bonding
Bonded teeth are cared for much like natural teeth. Brush and floss as you normally would, keep up with professional cleanings, and be mindful that coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco will stain composite faster than enamel.
Avoid using bonded front teeth to bite hard objects such as ice or pens, since composite can chip under that kind of force. If a repair wears or stains over time, it can be polished or replaced without harming the underlying tooth.
Schedule Your Bonding Consultation
Dr. Roshan will evaluate your teeth, discuss your goals, and tell you plainly whether bonding is the right choice or whether another option would serve you better.

The Advantages
Reasons patients choose bonding
One Visit
No lab wait, no temporaries
There is no outside laboratory and no second appointment to schedule. You arrive with the concern and leave with it corrected.
Conservative Treatment
Your tooth structure stays intact
In most cases the composite is added to your tooth rather than removing healthy structure to make room for it.
Natural Appearance
Shaded and shaped to disappear
Composite is layered to match the color and translucency of the teeth beside it, then polished so the repair reads as tooth rather than restoration.
Reversible
You are not locked in
If you do not like how it looks or feels, the composite can be removed with ease. Bonding also works as a transitional test drive before a more complex treatment.
